Hey everyone, it's been a bit, and you've probably noticed I've gone a bit quiet lately. First things first—I owe you all an apology for the radio silence. Life has thrown me a few curveballs recently, but things are finally starting to settle.
Unexpected Bootcamp at Uni
So, nobody warned me about the two-week, in-person film bootcamp at the Southern Institute of Technology—my university—which posed a bit of a problem considering I'm a 2.5-hour drive away. Yep, super convenient. I ended up doing most of it online, but even remotely, it was full-on: classes all day, every day, homework piled high, plus juggling my day job. Exhausting doesn't even begin to cover it.
Matchmaker: Dungeon Heart Progress
On top of that, I've been busy writing and designing narrative content for Matchmaker: Dungeon Heart. We recently dropped a big update, and I'm already deep into scripting the next release. As much as I've loved working on this game, I won't lie—I'm looking forward to reaching the finish line so I can move on to fresh creative ventures. I'm excited about what's next, but I need this chapter closed first.
My House Nearly Burned Down (No, Seriously)
Oh, and speaking of curveballs, our house nearly went up in flames. Literally. A fire ignited just beyond our backyard fence and came terrifyingly close to hitting our house and our neighbors'. While my partner fought it off with garden hoses and sheer determination, I scrambled around packing emergency essentials (cat first, obviously, plus passports and laptops because priorities). We're fine, thanks to the firemen who got here before it crossed the gravel path, and so is the cat, but it was a pretty nerve-wracking day.
Man-Flu
If that wasn’t enough drama, my partner caught the infamous man-flu (bless him) and kindly passed it to me. I spent a solid week nursing him, only to fall sick myself immediately after. Good times. Consequently, this also impacted my work on Bella Nacht, which needed attention since it pays a fair bit more of my bills right now.
Warriors of Avalon—Back on Track (sorta)
Now that things have calmed down—no fires, no flus—I'm finally diving back into writing. Updates for Warriors of Avalon will resume this week, and I’m genuinely excited to get back into this series. I've genuinely missed working on it and sharing updates with you.
Thanks for sticking with me through the chaos. How’s life treating you all lately? Has anyone else narrowly avoided catastrophe recently, or is that just my special brand of luck?
Talk soon,
Jaxon
